How you'll find us at the airport.

Exit the arrivals terminal

Walk out through the main arrivals doors after baggage claim and customs. You'll see a series of numbered canopies / shaded areas ahead of you.

Walk straight to Shaded Area #3

Continue walking straight ahead, crossing the street, and you'll arrive at **Shaded Area #3** — our official meet-up point.

Some airport directories will list this as 'Canopy 3' or 'Sombra 3' — same place. If you can't see it, ask any airport security host for 'Shaded Area 3' and they'll point.

Look for the white-shirt embroidered uniform

One of our airport hosts will be waiting under the canopy. Long white sleeves with colorful Mexican embroidery, khaki pants, holding a board with **your name** and the Cabo Airport Transportation logo.

Our uniform is distinctive on purpose — nobody else at SJD wears it. You'll see your name before they see you.

They'll call your vehicle

The host greets you, takes a moment to confirm the booking, and radios your driver — who's already in the staging area and arrives at the curb in under two minutes. Your bags go in. Your trip begins. During the ride, ask anything you need. Recommendations, restaurant tips, local advice — your driver is at your service.

Your driver's uniform

Embroidered shirt + khaki pants — distinctive on purpose.

A small concierge note from us.

Inside the airport, before you reach our meet-up point, you may be approached by friendly people offering free tours, free taxis, or asking about your hotel. These are timeshare presentation salespeople — not airport staff. They've caused confusion for our guests in the past. The simplest move: keep walking past them. Our host is waiting outside at Shaded Area #3, no matter what anyone inside tells you.

From baggage claim to your suite.

You land

Customs and baggage are out of our hands — we estimate ~25-40 min after wheels-down before you reach arrivals. Our flight-tracker already knows.

You walk to Shaded Area #3

Our host has been waiting. Your name on the board. No scramble, no signs to misread.

Your driver arrives in under two minutes

Bags in the trunk, water in the door pocket, A/C cool. The host steps back. The road to your hotel begins.

You arrive at the suite

Doormen know us. They open the door for the bags. You walk into your stay with nothing left to manage.

About this transfer

GuideUpdated August 21, 20263 min read

Written by the Cabos Airport Transportation operations team — we drive these routes every day.

Riu Santa Fe sits in the Cabo San Lucas transfer zone, about 32 km southwest of Los Cabos International Airport (SJD). A private door-to-door transfer takes 40-45 minutes off-peak. One-way pricing starts at $107 USD for a private van — child seats, bottled water, tolls, and flight tracking included. No taxi line, no shared shuttle stops, no waiting at SJD curb-side.

How long is the transfer from SJD to Riu Santa Fe?

The drive from Los Cabos International Airport (SJD) to Riu Santa Fe covers roughly 32 km along Highway 1 (Carretera Transpeninsular) — the same route serving every hotel in the Cabo San Lucas zone. Outside of peak hours expect a 40-45 minute ride. From 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm — when most US/Canada flights land — traffic through the Tourist Corridor and into town can stretch the ride to 50-60 minutes. Our drivers track your flight in real time and plan the route around live traffic.

Private transfer vs. taxi vs. shared shuttle to Riu Santa Fe

How a private transfer compares for SJD → Riu Santa Fe
OptionApprox. costTime to resortComfort
Private transfer (us)$107 USD / vehicle40-45 min directA/C, water, child seats, no detours
Taxi sindicato$80-120 USD / vehicle40-45 minMeter not standardized, cash at arrivals kiosk
Shared shuttle$13-40 USD / person90-120 min2-4 hotel stops, 15-60 min fill wait
Rental car$50-90 USD / day + insurance40-45 minYou drive after a long flight

Shared shuttles undercut a private transfer on a per-person basis if you are traveling solo or as a pair, but the ride itself takes roughly twice as long — 90-120 minutes once you factor in the fill wait and the 2-4 other hotels on the route, versus 40-45 minutes direct to Riu Santa Fe. Shared shuttles also do not carry child seats, so families traveling with kids typically book private. See our full private-vs-shared-shuttle breakdown for the per-passenger math.

Arrival at Riu Santa Fe — what to expect

Riu Santa Fe sits in the heart of the Cabo San Lucas zone, with access either off the Marina side or the Médano Beach side of town depending on traffic. Our driver pulls into the resort drop-off circle directly — no walking from a parking lot with bags. The Riu Santa Fe bellmen meet the vehicle, take the luggage, and the front desk handles your check-in from there. If you booked an all-inclusive package, your wristband is issued at check-in.

Riu Santa Fe vs. Riu Palace — same zone, different resort

Riu Santa Fe and Riu Palace Cabo San Lucas are two separate RIU-branded resorts inside the same Cabo San Lucas transfer zone — not two names for the same property. Both carry the same standard Cabo San Lucas pricing tier ($107 van / $115 VIP Suburban / $169 Sprinter), so the fare alone will not tell you which one your driver is headed to. Double-check your hotel confirmation email before booking: if it names "Riu Palace Cabo San Lucas," you want that property's own transfer page instead of this one.
