How you'll find us at the airport.

Exit the arrivals terminal

Walk out through the main arrivals doors after baggage claim and customs. You'll see a series of numbered canopies / shaded areas ahead of you.

Walk straight to Shaded Area #3

Continue walking straight ahead, crossing the street, and you'll arrive at **Shaded Area #3** — our official meet-up point.

Some airport directories will list this as 'Canopy 3' or 'Sombra 3' — same place. If you can't see it, ask any airport security host for 'Shaded Area 3' and they'll point.

Look for the white-shirt embroidered uniform

One of our airport hosts will be waiting under the canopy. Long white sleeves with colorful Mexican embroidery, khaki pants, holding a board with **your name** and the Cabo Airport Transportation logo.

Our uniform is distinctive on purpose — nobody else at SJD wears it. You'll see your name before they see you.

They'll call your vehicle

The host greets you, takes a moment to confirm the booking, and radios your driver — who's already in the staging area and arrives at the curb in under two minutes. Your bags go in. Your trip begins. During the ride, ask anything you need. Recommendations, restaurant tips, local advice — your driver is at your service.

Your driver's uniform

Embroidered shirt + khaki pants — distinctive on purpose.

A small concierge note from us.

Inside the airport, before you reach our meet-up point, you may be approached by friendly people offering free tours, free taxis, or asking about your hotel. These are timeshare presentation salespeople — not airport staff. They've caused confusion for our guests in the past. The simplest move: keep walking past them. Our host is waiting outside at Shaded Area #3, no matter what anyone inside tells you.

From baggage claim to your suite.

You land

Customs and baggage are out of our hands — we estimate ~25-40 min after wheels-down before you reach arrivals. Our flight-tracker already knows.

You walk to Shaded Area #3

Our host has been waiting. Your name on the board. No scramble, no signs to misread.

Your driver arrives in under two minutes

Bags in the trunk, water in the door pocket, A/C cool. The host steps back. The road to your hotel begins.

You arrive at the suite

Doormen know us. They open the door for the bags. You walk into your stay with nothing left to manage.

About this transfer

Written by the Cabos Airport Transportation operations team — we drive these routes every day.

Esperanza, an Auberge Resort is a clifftop, adults-oriented beach resort on Punta Ballena, at the Cabo San Lucas end of the Tourist Corridor, about 37-39 km from Los Cabos International Airport (SJD). A private transfer takes 35-48 minutes off-peak, or up to 55 minutes during peak afternoon arrivals in high season. One-way pricing starts at $92 USD for a private van — child seats, tolls, and flight tracking included.

How long is the transfer from SJD to Esperanza?

Esperanza sits on Punta Ballena, at Carretera Transpeninsular KM 7, the Cabo San Lucas end of the Tourist Corridor — the same distance band the Tourist Corridor hub page groups with Hacienda Encantada, at Km 7.3 (37-39 km from SJD). Off-peak, expect a 35-48 minute ride. During peak afternoon arrivals (12:00-4:00 pm) in high season (Dec-Apr), traffic through the corridor and into Cabo San Lucas can push the ride to around 55 minutes. Your driver tracks your flight in real time and adjusts pickup timing around it.

What is included in the transfer to Esperanza?

  • Private vehicle — no shared stops, no waiting for other travelers.
  • English-speaking driver in white-shirt embroidered uniform.
  • Flight tracking — your driver adjusts the pickup time if you are delayed.
  • Bottled water and child seats on request for families (note it in the booking).
  • Tolls, taxes, and a meet-and-greet at Shaded Area #3 outside SJD arrivals.
  • Direct drop-off at the Esperanza main entrance on Punta Ballena.

Which vehicle is the right fit for Esperanza?

Esperanza books mostly couples on an adults-oriented beach getaway, alongside small groups celebrating anniversaries or honeymoons — so most transfers are 1-4 passengers, with occasional larger parties for villa stays. Three vehicle categories cover every group headed to the resort. All-inclusive pricing — what you see at checkout is what you pay.

Private transfer vs. taxi vs. shared shuttle to Esperanza

How a private transfer compares for SJD → Esperanza

Private transfer (us)$92 USD / vehicle35-55 min directA/C, water, child seats on request, direct drop-off
Taxi sindicato (Cabo San Lucas-end rate)$90-115 USD / vehicle35-55 minCash only at the arrivals kiosk, no flight tracking
Shared shuttle (third-party operators, e.g. Cabo Shuttle, Discount Cabo)$20-30 USD / person60-90 min with other stopsMultiple resort stops before yours, fixed departure windows
Rental car$50-90 USD / day + insurance35-55 minYou drive after a long flight

A shared shuttle from a third-party operator can look cheaper per person, but it is not a service we run ourselves — we only offer private vehicles. Third-party shuttles typically make several stops at other corridor resorts before reaching Esperanza, at the far Cabo San Lucas end of the route, which can turn a 35-48 minute direct drive into 60-90 minutes with a full van. An airport taxi only lands close to our $92 flat rate at the very bottom of its $90-115 range — anywhere above that floor it costs more, the fare is not fixed in advance, it is cash-only, and there is no flight-delay coverage if your arrival slips.

Arrival at Esperanza — what to expect

From SJD, the route follows Highway 1 the length of the Tourist Corridor before reaching Cabo San Lucas and turning onto Punta Ballena for the Esperanza entrance at KM 7. Your driver has your name and vehicle details on file before you land, holding a board with our logo and your name at Shaded Area #3. From the resort entrance, valet and bell staff take over for check-in.

Esperanza — what you are arriving to

Esperanza, an Auberge Resort is a 57-room clifftop property on Punta Ballena overlooking two private coves on the Pacific-facing edge of Cabo San Lucas, per Forbes Travel Guide. The architecture uses gray-washed wood floors, driftwood accents, hand-woven palapa roofs, Mexican art, and hand-tooled leather furnishings, with many rooms opening onto private balconies with plunge pools or hammocks. The property runs four restaurants — including the cliffside Cocina del Mar, Las Estrellas, La Terraza Americana, and La Palapa — around a multi-tiered oceanfront pool. The recently renovated, palapa-topped Spa at Esperanza builds its treatments around the traditional medicine wheel philosophy, alongside a boutique carrying Baja lime-scented products. Esperanza skews toward couples and adults-oriented stays rather than large family groups.

Esperanza vs. other Tourist Corridor resorts

Esperanza sits at the Cabo San Lucas end of the Tourist Corridor, in the same distance band as Hacienda Encantada — a useful reference if your driver needs a landmark beyond the hotel name. It is noticeably further from SJD than mid-corridor properties like Le Blanc, Dreams, or Solaz. If your confirmation email lists a different Punta Ballena or Cabo San Lucas-corridor address, double-check the exact resort name before booking; several addresses look similar at a glance but sit at different kilometer markers with different drive times from SJD.
