Puerto Los Cabos itself is a gated, marina-anchored development about 10 minutes past downtown San José del Cabo, which keeps the resort close to town restaurants and the Thursday Art Walk while staying inside its own guarded perimeter.

Secrets Puerto Los Cabos is easy to confuse with the beachfront Zona Hotelera hotels closer to downtown San José del Cabo (Hyatt Ziva, JW Marriott, Viceroy) because all of them share the "San José del Cabo" tourist area. Secrets sits past that strip, inside the separately gated Puerto Los Cabos community, which is why its transfer runs a bit longer (25-30 min vs. 15-20 min for Hotel Row) and clears a community gate the beachfront hotels do not have.
